CODE OF ETHICS

All staff and members of the board of directors will comply with this Code of Ethics.  They will also comply with any specific code of ethics for a professional group of which they are a member.  A signed copy of this Code of Ethics will be kept in the staff member’s personnel file; another signed copy will be given to the staff member.  Any conflict with this Code must be brought to the attention of the executive director and/or the board of directors, as appropriate.

All staff and the board of directors will RESPECT:

• the dignity, worth, and rights of all individuals;
• each person’s right to self-development;
• the uniqueness and validity of different cultures, religions, and races;
• the confidentiality rights of each client;
• the rights of all to an individual perspective;  and
• the rights of all to healthy development in all areas of human development.

 All staff and the board of directors will PROMOTE:

• the safety and well-being of all while acknowledging special responsibilities in remaining vigilant in ensuring the safety of children and others less able to exercise normal regard for their own safety and well-being;  and
• each person’s own problem-solving abilities.

CONSTITUTION

1. The name of the Society is “Greater Victoria Child and Family Counselling Association”.

2. The purpose of the Society is:  The Greater Victoria Child and Family Counselling Association is an accessible counselling agency offering programs and services enabling individuals and families to function at their highest potential and to live quality, meaningful lives.

3. The Bylaws of the Society are those set out in the Society Act.
